The fact that human life is inherently bounded is not something that we generally like to face. Even the life of great Biblical figures like Moses came to end. In Duet 34:1-12, we see Moses’s death on the edge of reaching the Promised Land. He had tarried much of his life but did not get see it to its completion. This is also true for most of us. The work that we participate in this life, like fighting poverty, will not end in our lifetime. Rather, we must trust in God to pass the torch and continue the work because fundamentally, it is God’s story and not ours.
