A Canon within a Canon

Every Christian has part of the Bible that they cling more closely to whether because the sentiments expressed more align with our personal theology or because the story speaks to us in some way. This is often referred to as your “canon within a canon.” In this sermon, Trey takes on a text, 1 Tim 5:3-16, that is certainly outside his personal canon. It deals with care for widows but wrapped in an approach to women that can be deeply struggle. In wrestling with this text, Trey tries to offer a way of dealing with the aspects of the Bible that trouble us without resorting to throwing them out entirely.
