We all know the story of Jesus walking on water and Peter stepping out of the boat to meet him from Matthew 14:22-33. However, most people haven’t really thought about the real issue in the story. Peter should not have gotten out of the boat in the first place. In getting out of the boat, it is saying to Christ that the miracle of one person walking on water or the presence of Christ were not enough. It’s a fair bet to wager that a lot of other people can connect with this looking for the big ticket miracles, when the fact that Christ is with us is both the most common miracle and the most important one.
