Not unlike Where’s Waldo, finding the Kingdom of God is not as straight forward as one would thing. On the one hand, we certainly talk a lot about it, but a close look at 1 Cor. 15:12-26 shows that the Kingdom of God describes and connects at least three theological concepts: the early ministry of Christ, the ongoing presence of Christ in the world through the work of the Spirit, and our hope of Christ’s return at the end of the age. These are not unrelated topics, but it creates one of those things in theology that is difficult to conceptualize. The Kingdom of God is both something in the world today that we as Christians contribute to, and something that we have to hope that has not yet fully arrived. Confusing, right?
